What Are They Called Again?

Sugar Gliders.
That's how I answer that question. I get it practically any time anyone asks about my pets. Usually, I end up repeating myself ("They are called S-U-G-A-R gliders!") and going into a spiel about what they are, where they are from, what they eat, blah, blah, blah.

So, here's my Sugar Glider Centerfold of the Day:

This is Cosmo modeling on the backdrop of my hubby's bright orange shirt. In February, Cos went to live with new parents in NC along with his girl Mena and their twins, Orion and Icarus.

I currently have 5 gliders:

Bael - my fat fluffy boy. Beautiful, he is my sweetest and oldest glider. His brother, Bandit, recently passed away.

Contessa - mama girl. She's a bit sad since her mate died. Tessa has always had a minor attitude problem. She was a rescue and although things got much better, you just can't push this girl into liking you.

Blue - Mr. MellowMushroom - He's very laid-back, and just goes with the flow. Ain't no sweat off his back...

Neuro - the little Houdini escape artist. If there is an tiny crack or crevice, he can find his way out of anything. I can't tell you how many times I've woken up to him scurrying around in my room after Meko, our Maltese, has alerted me to his presence.

Willow - little baby girl - Like her mom, she can take it or leave it. She prefers the company of other gliders to humans. No biting, but she can definitely jump and run away if she doesn't want to play.

Gliders are not the kind of pet for everyone. They take lots of care and time. And...they aren't the cheapest pets to own either. Fresh food, frozen veggies, chicken, meal worms, crickets, vitamins, calcium - it all adds up.

But, it is oh so worth it to see those big eyes and fluffy tails.
